About Cub Scouts

Cub Scouting is a year-round, family-oriented part of the Scouts of America program designed for boys and girls who are in kindergarten through fifth grades (or are 6,7, 8, 9, and 10 years of age).

A Cub Scout Pack is composed of Dens with 6-8 youth each and is sorted according to their age and rank. The Cub Scout ranks are Lion (Kindergarten), Tiger (1st grade), Wolf (2nd grade), Bear (3rd grade), and Webelos I & II (4th and 5th grade).

Parents, leaders, and organizations work together to achieve the 10 purposes of Cub Scouting:

  • Character Development
  • Spiritual Growth
  • Good Citizenship
  • Sportsmanship and Fitness
  • Family Understanding
  • Respectful Relationships
  • Personal Achievement
  • Friendly Service
  • Fun and Adventure
  • Preparation for Boy Scouts
